1 Samuel 28

And Saul answered, “I am deeply distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me anymore, neither by prophets nor by dreams. …”

So he turns to the conjurers of the dead rather than examining himself to see if he could comprehend where it all went south. Father, You have given us great capacity; as Nee put it: a latent power of the soul which could be used to keep us dependent on ourselves until the very deceptive end crashes down on us. Holy Spirit, let me not try to figure the thing out, long after You have been silent. May I always run to You, for Your direction, Your words, Your pleasure — and then may I obey completely. Even in difficulties, God I want to bring You glory. Please help me to honor Your great Name and never seek to do that which You have forbidden me to do.
